SMS Forwarder – Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 October 2026
SMS Forwarder ("the app"), provided by Mahir Apps, forwards text messages you choose to phone numbers or email addresses you choose. This policy explains what the app does with your data.
What the app accesses
- SMS messages (READ_SMS / RECEIVE_SMS): to detect incoming messages that match a forwarding rule you created. Messages are processed on your device.
- Send SMS (SEND_SMS): to forward a matching message to the phone numbers you added to the rule.
- Contacts (READ_CONTACTS): only when you tap the contact picker, to let you choose a phone number. Contacts are not uploaded or stored by the app.
- Gmail "send" permission: only if you choose to connect Google. See below.
Google user data
If you tap Continue with Google, the app asks for one permission:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send ("Send email on your behalf").
- It is used only to send the emails that your own forwarding rules produce, from your own Gmail account, to the recipients you entered.
- The app cannot read, list, search or delete your email.
- The app never sees or stores your Google password.
- Access tokens are managed by Google's sign-in library on your device. The app has no server and does not transmit your Google data anywhere other than to Google's Gmail API to send the email.
- The app's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- You can disconnect at any time in the app (Settings → Email → Disconnect) or revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
What is stored, and where
Your rules and the list of forwarded messages are stored only on your device. You can clear the list in Settings → Clear forwarded list. Uninstalling the app removes all of it. We do not run a server that receives your messages, contacts or email.
Who receives your messages
Only the recipients you add to your rules. Message text is sent to them by SMS (through your mobile carrier) or by email (through Gmail), exactly as you configured.
Advertising and third-party services
The app shows ads using Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, and for fraud prevention, AdMob may collect and use: the advertising ID and other device identifiers, approximate location (derived from your IP address), app interaction data and diagnostics. This data is collected and shared with Google under Google's advertising policies. AdMob does not receive your SMS content, contacts or email content.
The app uses Firebase Remote Config to load a few settings (such as help text and links). This involves an installation identifier but no SMS, contact or email data.
If you connect Google for email, your Google account email address is used only to show which account is connected and to send the emails you set up through the Gmail API.
Data we do not collect: we operate no server and receive none of your SMS messages, contacts or email. Messages are sent only to the recipients you add to your rules.
Security: all network connections the app makes (Gmail API, Firebase, AdMob) use HTTPS.
Deleting your data
Rules and history live only on your device. Use Settings → Clear forwarded list, delete rules in the app, or uninstall the app to remove everything. To remove Gmail access, use Settings → Email → Disconnect or myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above will be updated.
